The park was originally opened in 1971 under the name Flevohof. At that time, it was an educational theme park. Later, as it went bankrupt, it was purchased by the Walibi Group who turned it into a modern family friendly amusement park. It was opened again as the Walibi Flevo on May 7, 1994. Today, it is one of the most Instagrammed tourist attractions in the Netherlands.
